Sometimes we find ourselves feeling alone. We wonder where the people in our corners are hiding, where are the listening ears, or shoulders to cry on? We feel deserted or neglected. Truth is sometimes God puts us in these seasons of silence. Silence? What do I mean by silence? I mean a period of rest from business, from schedules, from certain people, certain activities, and even sometimes from working. It is a season of what feels like exile.
Now for some of us…cough, me, cough… this can feel like a punishment. How can it not? It can feel as though God is mad at us or make us feel as though we have done something wrong. You can tell yourself those lies of the enemy, but that isn’t the case. As humans it is hard to not feel that way because we are prone to giving in to feelings, which is normal. I know I am not by myself in this because at one point or another you’ve been there too baby.
For me, this has been a very challenging season. To tell you a season of quiet is anything but restless in the spirit, I would not be telling the whole truth. To tell you the season is meant to stay that way is also not truthful. Truth is, it means God is trying to reveal himself to you and most of the time the revealing is painful because it truly shows you where you are faltering.
I am a busy body to the MAX. I can’t stay still for more than 5 minutes without losing my mind. The words "no" and "relax" are not words typically found in my vocabulary. What can I say? It is who I am or should I say have been. See sometimes God brings us to these seasons to not change the circumstances, but to change our perspective.
Okay so here I am in this season of quietness. Now what? What do I do? What do you do? You pray! You seek God! You open your Bible or a devotional app and you seek His word. You see God doesn't want to separate you from everyone else, he wants to bring you to Him. He wants to be an important presence in your daily life. I have found myself sitting in my war(prayer) room sometimes crying, sometimes yelling, sometimes with just pure silence. I have journaled, I have listened to music, and I have read books. And questions...I have asked so many questions.
If you find yourself in this season I encourage you to open your heart to Jesus and shut your ears to the world and the stresses it brings. Tap into your spirit and fill it up with peace. Ask God the questions of your heart. He loves when you ask. He's your teacher. Cry to him. Sing to him. Say his name. Read his word. Sit in his presence without words and allow him to penetrate your soul to amazing calming peace. Show him your hurts, your scars, your fears because there is nothing outside of him that can triumph over you.
There is nothing in this world God wants more than for you to fully seek and depend on him because he made us. He is our creator. Just as we seek acceptance, love, friendship, and trust he too wants the same from us.
This season is such a blessing and although there have been moments I was ready to quit on life, on people, on love and on God, he has blessed me in various ways with various people and has without question answered my prayers. You know the best gifts in life never have your dream packaging. They come in plain, brown paper bags, worn and torn in the corners but what is inside is preserved and in pristine condition. Just like the love God has for us so is His plan.
A season of quietness is nothing more and nothing less than a season of falling in love with our Lord and savior all over again. Falling in love with Him is falling in love with ourselves, with our families, with our jobs, our spouses, our (insert here) because loving God changes your vision. It opens your eyes. It changes your heart. It creates miracles. Without lifting a finger or raising a voice but simply breathing to the rhythm of God is all it takes.
Easier said than done I agree, but trust me. You'll be thankful for trials because there is always, always, always triumphs. Take a deep breath. Hug yourself. Thank the Lord and let God stretch you. This is the season of growth and the best is yet to be unveiled.
Biggest of hugs filled with so much love my beautiful ladies.
