As we head into the new year ahead, we wanted to share some of your most favorite posts from 2016. In no particular order, here is our top 16! Thank you for supporting us and having fun alongside us. May you have a blessed year ahead!
I made it to the home stretch--my little guy arrived on December 16th. The waiting, oh, the waiting. That is actually the part that bothered me the most though honestly. I'm such a planner and to have no idea when my child is coming drives me a little crazy. I had done everything there was to get ready, packed my bag, prepared freezer meals, and the last thing to do was pack sweet Carson's bag. Before jumping in to the diaper bag goodies, I have to share this bump pic because I kind of miss having a bump already!
The winds have shifted, finally blowing winter-like weather into North Carolina. I’m a Florida girl and have never been a fan of the frigid temps, but I enjoy Mother Nature’s hand in my wardrobe change. Here are some head to toe must have items on my winter list with the splurge and save options. Let's face it, some items are worth the splurge and others, you can make up for it by saving!
Maybe it’s because I’m a product of the 90s, but I’m a sucker for anything bedazzled. This caught my attention right away. Who wants a boring old beanie when you could shine with this one?
Gulp--2017 is almost here. Me and time have a love hate relationship. Part of me wants it to slow it's role and stop ticking, the other part of me is always full of anticipation for things to come. I'd like to think that is a healthy mix, so I'm going to share a little about what this last year has held and where we are going.
I remember before we launched the site, I started sharing that I was up to something exciting and when I was finally able to convince people I was not pregnant again, the real fun began. It all came out of no where, so I completely understand the many puzzled looks I got. I had a lot of butterflies to get past y'all, as I am a very friendly, loving person, but not what you'd consider outgoing. This is a little bit on the put-it-all-out-there-for-the-world-to-see side and believe me, I had a few coming to Jesus moments where I asked, "are you sure?"
"For a child will be born for us, a son will be given to us, and the government will be on His shoulders. He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6
God has been speaking to me through this scripture and through a song by Matthew West called: Unto us. As I began writing this post I said, "Ok God, people are going to think that I am pregnant! This is something you write when you're expecting, in which last time I checked, I was not!"
But, how many of us know God is looking for our obedience and not our complaining or rationale( inner laugh)?
The fact that I was not expecting a natural child in me but, understanding the child that was born, God's child, I went ahead and kept writing.
“There’s some! There’s some!” These are the words that used to be yelled from the backseat of the car from my sisters and I every time we would see Christmas lights. There is just something about Christmas activities and decorations that bring out the excitement in us all. I love to find Christmas activities that we can do as a family. I know that not all of our readers are form the Tampa area, but here are a couple of our family favorites for all ages.
One thing we have made a tradition that we go view on Christmas Eve is “The Symphony of Lights” at The Shops at Wiregrass in Wesley Chapel. The lights are choreographed to music and go off every hour on the hour from 6pm-9pm through December 31 st . The best part for us Floridians is that once the music stops, it begins to “snow” and the children light up with excitement. For more information and other activities at Wiregrass during this time, please visit here.
Is your mouth watering already? Yeah, me too, especially because I've already tasted this goodness. You know what almost is as good as chocolate and raspberries combined? The fact that this was a ready to make kit. Gold Leaf Gourmet has blown the roof off of my usual scramble at the last minute dessert making panic. Let's face it, the holidays and party planning in general can be complete madness and if there's anyway I can provide guests quality food with it made easier, I will. The cost comes in under what it would cost you to buy these individually from a high end delicatessen.
Watch this fun video to see how easy it was to prepare. Make sure to read all the fun details below, how you can save with a code and get a box to you in time for Christmas or any holidays to come.
Let me introduce you to the Raspberry Silk Ganache Kit. It came with the chocolate tart cups, Panna Cotta mix, raspberry mix, Couverture Coins for the ganache, dusting powder, white chocolate painted leaves, and the little gold Croquants. You only have to add in things that need to be extra fresh like the heavy cream, half & half, and raspberries.
,One of my favorite parts of Christmas is picking out wrapping paper at the beginning of the season. I love to walk to aisles of my favorite store (hello, Target!) during the first few days that they put it all out for display so I get to choose from all the options and not just the picked over stuff. Between the paper, bags, tissue, and all the beautiful tags I am filled with inspiration for how to dress my packages under the tree.
I know not every cares as much as me about how their packages look but I wanted to just take a minute to show you how simple it is to have nice packages with little to no effort at all.
Sometimes we find ourselves feeling alone. We wonder where the people in our corners are hiding, where are the listening ears, or shoulders to cry on? We feel deserted or neglected. Truth is sometimes God puts us in these seasons of silence. Silence? What do I mean by silence? I mean a period of rest from business, from schedules, from certain people, certain activities, and even sometimes from working. It is a season of what feels like exile.
Now for some of us…cough, me, cough… this can feel like a punishment. How can it not? It can feel as though God is mad at us or make us feel as though we have done something wrong. You can tell yourself those lies of the enemy, but that isn’t the case. As humans it is hard to not feel that way because we are prone to giving in to feelings, which is normal. I know I am not by myself in this because at one point or another you’ve been there too baby.
This may sound odd in our technologically savvy society but when I read, I love to have the actual book in my hand. I do own electronic readers but there is something about having the actual book in hand while I sit down with a cup of coffee and enjoy some time to myself. I was recently introduced to a company called FaithBox that we featured in our Faith Based Gift Guide. They deliver a monthly box filled with items that help to build your faith such as books, stationary, or nick nacks from companies that do good along with their own daily devotional book. Plus, money from your monthly subscription goes to provide meals to families in need.
This month I received the book by Lysa Terkeurst called “Uninvited”. Ever have those moments when you feel left out? It is so easy for us to see what we were “not” invited to because of social media. Maybe that Christmas party everyone is posting pictures from? Or that girls night out? It happens to us all.
