Last we talked, I was chatting about my future plans and how I had absolutely no idea what was ahead. Slowly but surely, things have started to come together(bless!), but today I wanted to talk about standing on your own two feet. For anyone, the first real leap “out of the nest” can be tough. Leaving mom and dad, friends and family, to venture out onto your own is not always the easiest, but it must be done. For me, I’m moving a few states away from my mom and dad to Texas! However, I also know that it can be equally as hard taking that first jump even if it is right around the corner from wherever you call home.
With moving states away from home comes a flood of emotions. I know some of our gals live far away from home on She Is Blank Space, and a lot of times I think about them when I’m in a rut. When I say in a rut, I don’t mean that I’m not looking forward to this move, because I am, I am actually soooo excited, I just mean that sometimes it is hard. Finding furniture, paying bills, looking for an adult job and expecting a salary that’ll keep your head above water – it ain’t easy. What is this #adulting thing I signed up for again?
I also go through periods of sadness where I think about how much I actually am going to miss home. Even though some days when I’m heading to one of my multiple jobs the thought of “I just want to move to Texas right now” does cross my mind, But I am an only child, a family girl, and someone who takes awhile to adapt to change sometimes (honesty hour over here.) It’s been such a roller coaster of emotion that I feel about this move, but I know it’s the right thing to do for so many reasons. I’ll be officially moving in August, and it’s coming fast!
Majority of the emotions are: excitement, nervousness, happiness and curiosity. Excited because I get to explore a different state with someone I love so much. Nervous because this is my first real venture away from home. Happiness because I know this is the next chapter of my life starting and there is SO much good to come, I can just feel it y’all.
Curiosity, because well lets be honest, I’m curious to see how this all goes!
So today, I figured I would share with you some tips on making that first move post-graduation that I’ve figured out this far. If you’ve done this already, and have some tips to add, I would love to hear them in the comments section! Reminder: I haven’t officially made this move yet – just preparing for it.…Seriously, keep the tips coming! I want to read them ALL!
