Well, fall has officially come and this is usually the busiest season for most of us! There’s football, fall festivals to go to, party upon party to attend, Thanksgiving, traveling, shopping and then hints of Christmas starting to surround us! For most of us, it’s one of our favorite times of year, for others, it can be the worst. Believe it or not, there are many who do not like, and even despise, this time of year, simply because it brings on bouts of depression. This is the time when you travel to see friends or family, and have more relational interactions than you would throughout any other time of the year.
Unfortunately, there are those who do not feel they have that connection to desirable and meaningful friendships or relationships. There are many who feel alone, lonely and left out, unloved and discouraged. You may have someone close to you that deals with this, or may deal with it yourself. I know I have. I am not afraid to admit, that there have been times in my life where I dreaded this time of year and desperately wished the new year would just start already.
It doesn’t have to be that way and you surely shouldn’t have to feel that way.
Know that you are loved and cared for by an almighty God of grace and unconditional love! Whether you debate depression is an illness or spirit, it is something that we must and can fight with the word of God and surrounding ourselves with those that genuinely care and love us.
So, I challenge you, if this is something that you or a loved one has, or does deal with, to first make an effort to not be alone this season. Reach out and see what’s going on these next couple of months, or maybe you even be the one to host a party or gathering! Also, make sure you meditate daily upon scripture that speak to depression. Begin to mentally defend against those thoughts and feelings, to keep them at bay and not let the unspeakable joy that God wants us ALL to have, be stolen from you. Praying that this season-you FALL into a season of PEACE.
