Happy one minute. Crying the next minute. Knows everything already before even told. Wants to be alone. Wants to be with you. Welcome to the world of teenagers.
While our children were young, we could spend time cuddling and hugging and kissing on our babies. Then they hit the magical teenage years and our children are beginning to maybe push back from physical touch. This does not mean that they do not love us; it just means that they do receive love the same way. It is imperative that we change the way we show love towards our teenagers so that we are still able to reach them at this pivotal time in their life. Right now we have a 14-year-old son and our daughter, who is 11, is not far behind.
1 month…4 years…16 years…34 years…. It does not matter how long you have been dating or married, there is always always always room to grow. Being intentional in your relationship is the key for a healthy relationship. We so easily become wrapped up in our day to day routines that sometimes our relationships are pushed to the back and become stagnant. I believe strongly in nurturing and pruning relationships so they continue to bloom and thrive just as they did when you first met your spouse/boyfriend.
My husband and I have been married for fifteen years and we have two kids. We want our children to see what a healthy relationship looks like so they have that model when it is time for them to build their own relationships. Has it always been easy?? Absolutely not! Have we pushed through and worked through hardships? You betcha!
This may sound odd in our technologically savvy society but when I read, I love to have the actual book in my hand. I do own electronic readers but there is something about having the actual book in hand while I sit down with a cup of coffee and enjoy some time to myself. I was recently introduced to a company called FaithBox that we featured in our Faith Based Gift Guide. They deliver a monthly box filled with items that help to build your faith such as books, stationary, or nick nacks from companies that do good along with their own daily devotional book. Plus, money from your monthly subscription goes to provide meals to families in need.
This month I received the book by Lysa Terkeurst called “Uninvited”. Ever have those moments when you feel left out? It is so easy for us to see what we were “not” invited to because of social media. Maybe that Christmas party everyone is posting pictures from? Or that girls night out? It happens to us all.
Weight, alright, health in general, can be a hard subject for ladies. If you are anything like me, you think about food and gain weight while your husband can work out for a week and lose 10 pounds. So not fair! I live an extremely active live and work out at least 5 times a week. I feel so much better mentally and physically when I can take that time out of my day to work out or go for a long walk (chat time with my husband or friend). But I can’t seem to loose that extra fluff.
My husband was told about this “10-Day Green Smoothie Cleanse” by J.J. Smith that he wanted to give a try so I told him that I would join him for moral support because let’s face it, I was sure that it would not do anything for me so I could at least join along to make it easier for him. So here we go. He ordered the book from Amazon and we went to the grocery store to gather the ingredients. I am
not going to lie, I was pretty “hangry” by day 2 because we were still cooking meals for our kids and the smell of their food was way more enticing than the look of my green smoothie, which by the way were all delicious. You can't go wrong with ingredients like mango, spinach and flax seed!
I weighed myself on day 3 and saw that I had lost 2 pounds. Surely the scale was wrong. This was really working, for me?!?! We made it all the way to day 10! I lost 7 pounds and my husband lost 13 pounds. I was sure this would not happen to me, results like this come from some weight loss show or something. The best part is I feel so much better and have more energy.
I believe that we need to have a healthy mind, body, and soul. This cleanse has inspired us to shift our thinking and the way we cook for our family. I am still going strong and having a green smoothie for breakfast and lunch with a healthy dinner. If you're ready to give the cleanse a try, visit the link below:
