"Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs." Proverbs 10:12
Revive Our Hearts. Those were the words that God lead me to writing my blog topic. What could this possibly mean? What could reviving our hearts bring in this world so full of hurt, violence, confusion, and full of hopelessness? I had to believe that His faithfulness would never end even if the world looked like it was. Realizing that He has been the hope for MY heart, I knew that He would never fail. His love would never fail. He redeemed me and restored me--against all the hate, hurt, and sin in my life. In my experience with Jesus, He moved with love and not condemnation. He helped me when I felt rejection and when I felt I didn't belong. He wiped away my tears when I was all alone.
As we know, there has been so much hurt and loss going on these past couple of weeks. From the tragedy in Orlando with countless lives lost, to one of my daughter's favorite the Voice singers, Christina Grimmie being killed at one of her concerts. Sadly, this is happening more often than we would like to admit. Lives are being taken to soon, people are being bullied for their sexuality and the world is full of violence. Nothing new right? Wrong, if anything it has become worse because these voices are becoming louder than the HOPE that is alive. The world can be a blur around us but, Jesus is still clear. The word of God is still clear. For much of what I can remember I always stood for justice. It was not okay to see something in front of me and act like I didn't see it or couldn't do anything about it. If you see it, did it ever cross your mind, that maybe you were there for such a time and purpose? People are hurting, people need love.
My prayer is that you would listen to your whole heart and practice compassion.
The strength of love is more powerful than that of hate.
The action of love is what changes the thoughts of hatred. The action of love is what supports healing and stops destruction. The action of love is focused on helping and not blaming. The action of love gives and doesn't take. The action of love doesn't judge, but loves and prays for others.
Our families are torn by violence. Our communities are destroyed by violence. Our faith is tested by violence.
Only God can be God. Like myself, we are all learning and being transformed more and more into the image of Christ. I don't have it all together, but what I do know is that we all need love and we all can choose to love others. No more judging. No more bullying.
Love and hope doesn't come with standards, but a choice to become it for someone else.
