Any of my ladies out there looking for a book that will help you dig deeper into scriptures as you learn to become who God created you to be??
I recently just finished reading “Becoming a Woman of Excellence” by Cynthia Heald. This book is a great way for you to read and learn while answering questions that allow you to grow in your faith. Heald points out that “to become means to grow into, to come to be, to undergo change or development, to be transformed. As we choose to consistently abide in Christ, we are made more and more like Him and changed into His glorious image.”
Christian psychologist Larry Crabb teaches that right thinking and right behavior lead to right feelings. The emotions that we feel come from our thinking and behavior. Any of you feeling discouraged may understand this as we then spiral our emotions in the wrong direction? We begin our day walking on sunshine and then one thing happens that was not on our agenda and all of a sudden….our thinking flops our emotions to rain clouds.
In order for us to become a woman of excellence, we need to study God’s character. Cynthia Heald breaks her book into four sections: the Goal, the Cost, the Prize, and the Praise. Within each section, you have the opportunity to break down scripture in order to understand how we can apply them to our lives. This would also be a wonderful book if you lead a Bible study.
Proverbs 31:30 says, “Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.” Proverbs 31 describes that a “woman exemplifies excellence by her commitment to God, her graciousness, her discretion, her diligence, her trustworthiness, and her wisdom.”
How are you building your relationship and growing in your walk of faith? This book is a wonderful way to do just that.
