Hello ladies, we are in full blown back to school mode here in Florida. The majority of our districts are back in school. Some of you in other regions of the country and world went back a couple weeks ago and some have yet to begin. Since we are all beginning new chapters with our kids, I want to take some time to introduce you to one of my all time favorite books, Praying Circles around your Children by Mark Batterson. My kids just started 8th and 5th grade last week. Wow…so hard to believe…last year of middle school and elementary for them. They are getting older, I am not--wink. It is so vital for us to lift our kids up in prayer and Mark Batterson writes about five prayer circles to pray for your children.
Any guesses where I am reading? It is a rainy afternoon in Tampa (surprise) so I am at Airheads reading while my kids jump and bounce around.
As mommies, we need to be praying the promises of God around and around our children. Mark Batterson wrote that we should be “praying and interceding for future spouses, believing for miracles, and praying a hedge of protection around our children.” I learned the power of prayer from my great-grandmother. She would call out the names of her family members in prayer every day. She would intercede.
“Parents aren’t just praying that God will keep their kids safe; they are praying that He will make them dangerous for his purposes so, they can make a difference in their generation.” Pray for our children to be generation changers! Pray for our children to be the light. I also want to encourage you to pray with your children, not just for them. Let them hear your prayers and allow them to join in. Hear their hearts and know what their requests may be.
If there could be one book that I would suggest for every parent to read, it would be Praying Circles around your Children.
Be on the lookout for my next couple of blogs. I will be sharing ideas for mommies with girls and mommies with boys.
